A Message from the Principal: 2/7

Hello CREW Families,

Book Fair

Friday is the last day for the Book Fair! Thank you for supporting our PTA by visiting the Book Fair in Tallmadge Hall. Your support allows our students to receive a free book during their birthday month. In addition, we are able to give new books to our CREW!

Science Fair

The Sam Hughes Science Fair is Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Projects in 5th grade are due Friday, February 8th and all other projects are due Monday, February 11. Projects will be set up in Tallmadge Hall. The committee of judges will be reviewing projects throughout the day on Tuesday. The Science Fair will be open for viewing on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30-6:00 pm.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Next week we will be having two half days for Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. Dismissal will be at 11:45. Students will have the opportunity to eat lunch and lunches will be available for purchase in the cafeteria. Thank you in advance for arranging for your student’s dismissal plan on Thursday and Friday. If your child attends CREW Club, please consider sending additional snacks for your child due to the change in lunch times (earlier than usual) and the extended afternoon.

Rodeo Break

There is No School on Thursday, February 21st and Friday, February 22nd, for Rodeo Break. Enjoy your long weekend and hope you have the chance to enjoy the festivities of Fiesta de Los Vaqueros!

Our Chuckwagon Carnival is only a few weeks away. Please mark your calendar for a day of family fun! Chuckwagon will be from 2-6 pm on March 2. See you there!

Chuckwagon Pre-Order Tickets are due February 24th. Please bring your completed sheet and labeled payment to the office. Tickets will be for sale on the day of the event - they will be $1 a piece. Tickets are used to purchase items, play games, participate in the petting zoo, etc.

Love of Reading Week

Sam Hughes will be celebrating Love of Reading Week February 11- 15. We will be decorating classroom doors, hosting guest readers, and having our 3rd Annual Character Parade on Wednesday, February 13th. If students would like to participate in the Character Parade, they are welcome to dress up as a character from a book (not a Halloween Costume), and if possible, bring in a copy of the book with the character. This is a fun event that I look forward to each year!
