After-School Community School Enrichment Class Program Closure

I have been informed by the Community Education Department that our after-school enrichment class program, Community School, will no longer be offered at Sam Hughes. This decision was based on the decline in enrollment and lack of financial feasibility. There is a letter from the Community Education Department in your student’s red folder with more details, or you can read the letter online.

Book Fair

The book fair is here! Thank you for supporting our PTA by visiting the book fair in Tallmadge Hall. I would like to thank Cheryl Grey and Crystal Marrs for all of their efforts with coordinating and operating the book fair! Thank you, thank you!!!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Please mark your calendars on February 14th and 15th as early release days—dismissal will be at 11:45!

Teachers will be conducting parent-teacher conferences during the afternoons of both days. Teachers will be contacting parents to schedule conferences. Please feel free to contact your student’s teacher if you have not been contacted and would like to schedule a conference.

Love of Reading Week

Sam Hughes will be celebrating Love of Reading Week February 11-15. We will be decorating classroom doors, hosting guest readers, and on Wednesday, February 13th we will be having our third annual Character Parade. If students would like to participate in the Character Parade, they are welcome to dress up as a character from a book (not a Halloween costume), and, if possible, bring in a copy of the book with the character. This is a fun event that I look forward to each year!
