A Message from the Principal: 8/9

Hello Sam Hughes CREW!

What a wonderful start to the school year we have had! Thank you for all of your support, time, and patience as we are settling in to the 2018-2019 school year.

New Members of the CREW

We have some new faces here at Sam Hughes! Please help me in welcoming:

  • Ms. Arwen Beck – Kindergarten Teacher
  • Ms. Caroline Phillipi – Second Grade Teacher

We are very fortunate to have such wonderful new members of the CREW. Thank you in advance for your support in welcoming them to our fabulous community.

We will be announcing a few additional new CREW members once the hiring process is complete—stay tuned!

School Security

As many of you have experienced, we have a new security system on our front door! Over the summer district leadership installed new security door systems that allow our office staff to keep the front door locked during business hours. There is a doorbell with a camera and speaker system that allows the front office to communicate with the person at the door.

For ensured safety during the school day, all gates to the school will be locked during instructional time. Our goal is to only have one entrance point during the school day, and that is the front door. Thank you for your support with this process. Campus safety is one of our top priorities.

Thank you for taking the time to activate your ParentVue accounts and update your contact information. This data is crucial in our ability to communicate with you regularly and contact you in an emergency if necessary. If you are in need of your personalized activation code, please stop by the front office, with picture ID, and Ms. Kate or Ms. Ilyssa will be happy to print it out for you. Updating your contact information online helps us save thousands of sheets of paper. Thank you so much for your support.

Thank you for all the coordination, planning, and communication you have done to ensure we have a smooth dismissal each afternoon. I would also like to express my gratitude to the 1st–5th grade parents/families for waiting on the playground for their students. The courtyard can get very congested and it truly helps to only have the Kindergarten parents in the courtyard when the bell rings. Thank you for being CREW!

We are off to a wonderful start to our new school year!

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
